The Staff of Texas Concealed Handgun of San Antonio thank you for your service to our country.
In order to try and show our appreciation, for active duty personnel (your only employment is the military) our class fee is reduced to $55.00. Although the state allows non active duty reserves and guard discounts, we are not in a position (not being as wealthy as the state) to do this. Please be prepared to show dated proof of active duty status, e.g., LES, orders, when checking in for class.
In order to maintain our discount for the military, and because we are now limiting the size of our classes, we must limit the seating allotment to 25 seats per class for our military.
If you are a resident of another state, but stationed in Texas, you must have a current/valid drivers license from that state, or a Texas State ID Card. If your driver's license is expired, you will need a Texas State ID Card which is obtainable from any DPS driver's license office with two forms of picture identification. When submitting your paperwork after taking the class) to DPS, you will be required to furnish two different types of proof, e.g., copy of military ID card, copy of LES form, orders or a letter from your commander indicating your military status. Active duty military, or honorably discharged veterans, may obtain a license when they are 18 years of age.
All fees to the state are waived for military members, including those honorably discharged within the last 365 days. Over 365 days, the state fee is half.
Range qualification is optional if you qualified with a handgun (not a long gun) in the last five years. If you qualify to opt out of the range portion of the class, in addition to proof of military status as mentioned above, you will also need to include military proof of handgun qualification, i.e., certification or training notation contained in your military records, when you submit your other paperwork to DPS.
